List of Asai Katas - Shotokan Karate

This page focuses on the Asai kata used by some Shotokan Karate organizations (such as the IJKA). These kata were developed by Tetsuhiko Asai, founder of the International Japan Martial Arts Karate Asai-Ryu (IJKA) and the Japan Karate Shoto-Renmei (JKS). Reasons for Kata

Many Karate schools use kata in order to help students practice certain moves (i.e. kicking techniques, self-defense techniques and various strikes). In addition, kata is used to improve a student's physical conditioning, muscle memory, focus/concentration, balance, etc.

You might also like to visit the wiki community's Forms, Kata & Patterns section that contains conversations such as Is Kata useful or useless?, Positives & negatives of forms & patterns, etc. In this section, wiki community members discuss forms, pattern & kata techniques, tips, improvements, etc.
