Instructions for a Martial Arts Reinforced Block This page looks at how to a martial arts reinforced block (also known as an assisted block, augmented block or supporting block). In Karate, this block is called Morote Uke and in Taekwondo, it is called Geodeureo Makgi. In this technique, you will reinforce a blocking arm with the other non-blocking arm. It is meant to be used for helping stop a powerful attack that might defeat your "regular" one-armed block. This technique is rarely used in the real world. Nevertheless, it is often found in katas and forms. The resting hand in this block, can also be used as a follow up Back Hand strike, Urraken, or for a wrist lock. For more blocking techniques, please visit the main Martial Arts Blocks section. Karate Reinforced Block
