The Last Samurai - Martial Arts Movie

The Last Samurai is a 2003 martial arts film which stars Tom Cruise as a former American military officer in the late 1800s who embraces the life of a samurai. According to Wikipedia, "The film's plot was based on the 1877 Satsuma Rebellion led by Saigō Takamori, and the westernization of Japan by foreign powers".
